Robbie Fowler - Liverpool Legend
What can be said about Robbie Fowler? The 'Toxteth Terrier' also know as 'God'. He is a legend with a sweet left foot and one of the most natural goalscorers to grace English Football. Also the 6th highest scorer in Premier League history - 128 in the league for Liverpool.
At just 18 yrs old it didn't take long for him to get in his stride. Against Fulham in the League Cup he scored in the 1st leg.
2 weeks later at Anfield in the 2nd Leg Liverpool won 5-0 - Fowler got all 5. He had arrived - the Kop taking to him instantly.

In the 1994 - 95 season he scored the Premier League's second fastest hat-trick ever, in four minutes and 33 seconds. His record stood for twenty years until broken by Sadio Mané in May 2015 for Southampton.
Throughout the mid and late 1990s, Fowler was widely considered to be the most natural finisher playing in England. Scoring more than 30 goals for three consecutive seasons. He remains the only player to have scored 30+ goals in his first 3 full seasons.
Fowler and Collymore were among the most prolific goal-scoring strike partnerships in England during the 1995–96 season. I remember the Liverpool / Newcastle games in the mid 90's - they were phenomenal.
The 4–3 victory over Newcastle United was voted the best game that decade.
Scoring 4 goals against Middlesbrough in December 1996 meant he reached 100 for Liverpool - quicker than living legend Ian Rush. He was a 'lad' and a massive contrast to the poster boy look that Michael Owen brought.
The 2000–01 season was Fowler's most successful season. Appearing in 3 finals, scoring 17 goals and lifting 3 trophies in a unique cup treble. Despite his popularity with Liverpool fans, Michael Owen and Emile Heskey had established themselves as Liverpool's front 2.
He moved onto Manchester City, then in January 2006 Fowler rejoined Liverpool - 'God' had returned to Anfield!! Fowler's called his 1st game back; "a kid waking up on Christmas morning every day". The Anfield crowd loved the fact Fowler was back, giving him a standing ovation.
Fowler's goal against West Bromwich Albion, meant he overtook Kenny Dalglish in the club's all-time top scorers.
Despite concerns about his fitness, Fowler finished the 2005–06 season scoring more than Liverpool's other strikers.
Fowler didn't feature much in his last season. Only making 6 league appearances. But he was given the captain's armband in his final game against Charlton Athletic - leaving the field to a standing ovation.

Accusations of drug abuse

"He wasn't very tall, wasn't athletic looking, he had funny little legs, a paunch almost at times, no real strength if you compare him to the modern thoroughbred footballers. But nobody - nobody - could finish like him".
